“Why do we choose J&A? This is our home. Our tribe, built on the foundation of our faith. This tribe of people is the first thing that makes this decision for us. I know I can trust the people in our school, every day, with my children. We - the school community and I, as a parent - have a similar belief and a similar goal - not just to make sure my kids graduate without getting into too much trouble, but to leave Sts. Joachim & Ann knowing that they are a part of a community that embraces who they are, and wants them to be empowered for life, by instilling in them a sense of faith, service and wonder.
When COVID came along & turned our world upside down, I knew, in my heart, that between Mrs. Schutz and Fr. Brockland, my kids would be fully taken care of. I knew that whatever decision was made, would be done with every child in mind. And I knew I could trust that, if needed, the two of them would change and adjust as needed. They know our kids. Fr. B & Mrs. Schutz know each child by name. Most superintendents can’t do that…Unless it’s for the wrong reason!
So while it is imperative that my kids get the experience of mass, service, and sacrifice, it is my job to do these things at home, and in my personal life, too. As a mom that is raising 2 teens, and also running a school myself, we’re busy, but our family also has found a spirit of service here at J&A in the school. Our family both gives and receives through service. I’m able to connect to parents who are here for the same goal - whether we are helping at a field trip or christmas party, or if I’m helping run Glow Bingo, I’m receiving just as much as I’m giving. My children know that I value their education by the service I give the school, and in turn, they learn to be children of service, out of love for the things that matter to them as well. This service, in turn, shows them that they are connected to, and need, our faith family in order to become empowered for life.
I invite parents, grandparents, parishioners and friends to come see what our school has in store for our children, for our future church!”
