Fire

In the event of a fire:

• If you discover a fire in church pull the nearest fire alarm.
• When the fire alarm sounds, remain calm and follow the directions given by the priest, deacon, ushers who will identify where the fire is.
• Every fire alarm will be taken seriously. Do not presume a false alarm.
• When the alarm sounds, proceed calmly and quickly to the nearest exit away from the fire.
• If there is smoke, use a cloth to cover your mouth and nose and stay low to the ground as you proceed to your exit.
• Assist those who have difficulty exiting the church.
• Once you are outdoors, seek a safe location away from the buildings.
• Be certain that you do not obstruct major roadways or fire lanes when gathering outdoors.
• Report all injuries to the nearest usher or other parish personnel and assist the injured if you are able.
