Earthquake

Predicting an earthquake is nearly impossible.
 
In the event of an earthquake emergency:

• Drop to the floor
• Take cover under the pew, solid furniture or otherwise by an interior wall.
• Cover your head and neck with your arms. Stay away from windows, hanging objects, mirrors, and tall furniture that can tip over.
• If you are under sturdy furniture hold on to it and be ready to move with it.

• After securing yourself suitable cover, assist those who cannot cover themselves with any type of barrier.
• Wait patiently until “all clear” is announced.
• Once “all clear” is announced, remain calm and follow the directions given by the priest, deacon, and/or ushers.
• If directed to exit the church, do so quickly but calmly. Once outside, move away from all buildings, structures, downed wires, or openings in the ground.
• Once you reach safety, stay there until emergency authorities arrive.
• Report all injuries to the nearest usher or other parish personnel and assist the injured if you are able.
