Curriculum

What is outlined in the following pages are the priorities to be taught in each grade.  It does not document every concept or skill that will be covered, only the concepts and skills that must be covered.  This ensures that these concepts and skills are covered, regardless of who the teacher may be.  Archdiocesan guidelines and Show-Me standards were used to help develop our curriculum.

Curriculum is designed to be a guideline for faculty to ensure continuity and consistency across the subjects and through the years.  For example, a teacher cannot choose to “skip” fractions because he/she would rather teach geometry.  But, a teacher may choose to cover a skill not included on the curriculum as long as all curriculum skills are covered in that grade level.

Textbooks are chosen to best fit our curriculum.  They are adopted on a rotating cycle, with a new subject evaluated each year.

The curriculum is set up by subject with overall subject goals, followed by grade level goals and objectives.  The overall goals are those goals that students will achieve by the end of 8th grade.  They are included to help give you an idea of how students will progress through the years.

If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to your child’s teacher and/or the principal of the school.  We would be happy to discuss this with you.
